A good cigar deserves stable storage. Heat, dry air, and sudden swings in humidity can dull flavor, crack wrappers, and make an otherwise great cigar smoke poorly.
Aim for consistency
A common target is around 65–70% relative humidity and a cool room temperature. The exact number matters less than keeping it steady. Big swings are what cause most storage problems.
Do not overfill the box
Cigars need airflow. If a humidor is packed too tightly, humidity can become uneven from top to bottom. Leave a little room, rotate your cigars occasionally, and check different spots in the box.
Trust the feel, then verify
A cigar should feel firm with a little give. If it feels brittle, it is too dry. If it feels spongy or the draw is tight, it may be too wet. A calibrated hygrometer helps confirm what your hands are telling you.
